The auditory replacement phenomenon, also known as the recrudescent phenomenon, is a common symptom of sudden hearing loss, Meniere's disease, and acute bass-impaired sensorineural hearing loss. When there are more sound sources, sounds become confused and it is difficult to understand what is being said. The mental strain is also increased because the sounds you don't want to hear sound louder.
