I was better than I had been immediately after the onset of my sudden deafness, but the tinnitus remained. There was a period when I felt depressed and lost weight, but I recovered enough to go on a trip around the country. Since I could not fly, I traveled slowly in my own car.
During my stay in Nagano, I happened to ask for acupuncture because I had pain in my lower back and back and the place I asked for acupuncture was known for its treatment of sudden deafness, so I was lucky to have it done later on for my ears as well.
Unfortunately, it was only a few treatments, so it was not a full recovery, but the tinnitus was less bothersome than usual for a few days. I will actively try acupuncture after this trip is over, as it seems that acupuncture can often help with recovery if not past 3 months from the onset.
When flying, people often experience ear problems because they cannot cope well with changes in air pressure. Especially during takeoff and landing, the changes in air pressure can be severe.
Wearing earplugs and chewing gum can help alleviate ear problems. If you have any questions about anything, please contact us.
